Who Should take this course
This course is suitable for anyone who works or lives with children or their families. Internet safety for kids is a topical and significant matter and this course aims to provide an understanding of the risk for professionals, parents and carers alike.

The course is divided into four accessible, interactive modules and includes an assessment at the end:
- Introduction to Safeguarding Children Online – key facts, young people and social media and an overview of why online safety for children is important.
- Risks Associated With the Internet and Mobile Technology – advantages and disadvantages of technology, which children are most at risk online, the risks children face on the internet, ‘sexting’, case studies, the consequences of being exposed to risks, web cams, cyberbullying and online safety in gaming.
- Addressing Issues of Online Abuse and Risk – raising your awareness of internet safety, raising your workplace’s awareness, raising young people’s awareness, practical internet safety tips, online safety tips for parents, helping your child to use Facebook safely, recognising when things are wrong, responding to concerns and removing online content.
- Further Resources – a comprehensive list of websites, books and videos that you may wish to consult in order to learn more about child protection and online safety for kids.
The online assessment is taken on completion of the training material. You will be asked 10 multiple choice questions with a pass mark of 80%. The answers are marked automatically so you will instantly know whether you have passed. If you don't pass don't worry! You can take the test as many times as you need with no extra charge.
It takes approximately 2-3 hours to complete the course in full. This can be spread out over multiple sessions or completed in a single session. There is no time limit for completion.
