DescriptionThis online Infection Control and Prevention Training Course is designed to raise awareness of the importance of minimising the risk of infection in the workplace in order to prevent diseases from spreading and comply with legal responsibilities under the Public Health Regulations, RIDDOR 2005 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Infections are often easily dealt with but sometimes, if they are not managed effectively, they can create serious problems. This course aims to provide an understanding of the legal obligations, the techniques for undertaking an infection control risk assessment and explains the essentials for maintaining a hygienic working environment, including how to ensure the correct hand washing procedure is followed.

The course is divided into four accessible, interactive modules and includes an assessment at the end.
- Introduction – legal requirements, employer and employee responsibilities.
- Identifying the Hazards – common infections, the chain of infection and means of transmission.
- Assessing the Risks – sources of infection; people, animals and environment, the level of risk and the checklist for risk assessments.
- Controlling the Risks – limiting the growth of micro-organisms, hygiene controls, hand washing procedure, work clothing, emergency situations, communication and training.
The online assessment is taken on completion of the training material. You will be asked 20 multiple choice questions with a pass mark of 75%. The answers are marked automatically so that you’ll instantly know whether you passed. If you don't pass don't worry! You can take the test as many times as you need with no extra charge
Approximately 1 hour to complete the course in full. This can be spread out over multiple sessions or completed in a single session. There is no time limit for completion.
