THE AMBULANCE SERVICES BENEVOLENT FUND.
A Message about The Emergency Services Show 2012.
“Thanks to the immense generosity of David Brown the Event Director and Broden Media the organisers, the ASBF were able to attend this year’s Show.” said Paul Leopold, Chairman of the ASBF.”
He praised the event saying:
“This year’s show at the Stoneleigh Park Show Ground near Coventry was a success despite experiencing some eventful weather. The first day visitors braved torrential rain and floods. On the second day the Show Ground was subjected to gale force winds and the large marquee in which our stand was housed became unsafe and everyone had to be evacuated whilst the necessary action was taken to deal with the problem that had occurred.”
Complimenting the organisers Paul said:
“David Brown’s unfailing courtesy and patience in dealing with frustrated exhibitors and visitors over a couple of hours that we all had to spend outside the marquee was a pleasure to see and an object lesson on how to remain calm, polite and cheerful (outwardly) under immense pressure.”
The ESS was extremely busy on the ASBF stand and as part of the fundraising a fun draw for a bottle of champagne was organised. Paul explains:
“Because of the evacuation of Hall 3 the draw for our raffle was held in the informal surroundings of the exhibitor’s lounge where Gemma Hutley, Project Manager at the Civil Contingencies Secretariat, kindly made the draw. We then presented the winner, Malcolm Maycock, Managing Director of Licence Bureau Ltd. with his prize in the equally informal surroundings of the entrance to Hall 3.”
Finally Paul praised everyone for their support:
“On behalf of the ASBF Trustees I thank everyone who came to visit our stand and for your generosity in the purchase of the various badges and raffle tickets and to all those who signed up to make a donation from salary to the Fund. Also, our many thanks go to Kerry London the independent multi-specialism insurance brokers who kindly presented us with a cheque for £300 following their generous donation of £5 in respect of each quotation that they made through enquiries generated from last year’s ESS. And, to top it up they raffled a cricket bat signed by the Surrey cricket team and raised a further £107 – brilliant! We look forward to seeing everyone next year.”
