CPDme upgrade members online CPD Portfolios to have analytical breakdown on categories and development types.

The CPDme development team have worked hard to implement a great new feature for our CPDme members. The new feature involves an analytical breakdown of their submitted CPD activities and displays these in a very easy to see graph.

This helps members direct their CPD in order to ensure that their personal development is a good mixture of learning activities ad development relevant to their current or future practice.

This is a great tool if the member is registered with the HCPC as its helps the user look at various categories of development in order to address meeting Standard 2 of the Health and Social Care Professions Council required CPD Standards for registration.

This new feature helps inform individuals taking part in one element of development say for example continuously attending a course or reading a journal. CPDme believe that varying your development is a very important element of managing your future learning and thats why we have exhausted lots of time and effort into this great new feature.

The more various development events you submit, the more the graph will auto update and feedback a divided percentage.

The CPD Buddies will also email you if you submit too many of the same learning category. This will help you focus direction on looking at other learning activities and types.

If you are a member and not yet seen this feature on your online CPD Portfolio, please open a support ticket by clicking here.

Just another great feature brought to you by CPDme.

CPDme launch the NEW Help feature to support you in building and maintaining your CPD Portfolio

CPDme have launched the NEW HELP Feature that floats on every web page offering interactive support to our Members and Visitors.

Our Support team recently received a 98% rating in a recent members poll for the speed of our customer service replies. The management team decided that sometimes even 10 mins or 2 hours for a reply was too long and so the new Knowledge Base was designed.

The idea is that our support staff will scroll through the 1000s of questions that we have been asked since 2009 and add the unique and informative answers to the support forums. This allows people to benefit the answers from members previously asked questions.

Try it now. Simply click the HELP tab on the left or visit the support site and ask a question. If the answer is not listed, the Knowledge Base allows you to create a support ticket requesting one of our team look at your question personally.

    Ambulance Services Benevolent Fund

    A Message from our Patron

    Simon Weston OBE

As Patron of the Ambulance Services Benevolent Fund I would like to invite people to volunteer as ASBF representatives to champion our work and promote awareness about the only country wide ambulance services charity to colleagues. You would encourage them to organise events to raise funds or to make a regular donation by signing up to a donation from salary scheme. Even a small amount of say £5 a month from everyone would enable the ASBF to develop its care, rehabilitation and recuperation programmes to provide that extra care when needed.

I’ve heard people say ‘It will never happen to me’. Well, it did happen to me and I have been so grateful that all the right support and rehabilitation was in place for my needs.

If you want to join our special team and champion the work of the ASBF by helping to raise the profile and encourage fund raising please contact us NOW!

Our volunteers are special and come from all ambulance service roles. This year please ‘Join Our Special Team’ and support the Ambulance Services Benevolent Fund.

    Thank you.

    Prize Draw Book Giveaway

Facing Danger in the Helping Professions

CPDme bring you another Prize Draw Book Giveaway. We have been offered three copies of Facing Danger in the Helping Professions - A Skilled Approach by Iain Bourne.

To enter for free simply complete our online form:

    About the book

A comprehensive guide for all those who face danger in their line of work.

Dangerous behaviour is a very real threat to practitioners working across the helping professions, and one that many feel ill-equipped to deal with. This innovative, accessible and theoretically informed book focuses on the types of dangerous behaviour that helping professionals are likely to encounter, and provides strategies and skills for dealing with these situations.

Written for both students and practitioners in various disciplines, the book focuses on the immediate face-to-face management of interpersonal danger, and it looks at ways in which helping professionals should implement good practice, while dealing with the moments of extreme stress, confusion, fear and anxiety that these situations give rise to.

    Key Features

' Based on the author's dangerous behaviour training courses
' Helps the reader to understand and control their reactions in moments of stress and effectively difuse situations
' Case studies are used throughout to allow the reader to place themselves in the incident and reflect on what they might be thinking, feeling and doing in a given situation.
"Written for professionals who may experience violence in the course of their work, this book is - unusually - not about helping the violent person become less violent (worthy though that goal undoubtedly is) but about helping the professional to be safe. In this, it is a welcome addition to the literature on social work. Social workers, nurses, care staff and others are often expected to work in tense, fraught situations in which emotions can run high. This book is unique in offering practical tips to help guide professionals in responding to threatening and violent behaviour."
David Wilkins, Honorary Lecturer, Centre for Child Protection Studies, University of Kent and Principal Child and Family Social Worker, London Borough of Enfield

"In the paramedic world during a typical inner city shift we face the unexpected, the hostile, the extreme and the bizarre in increasing numbers as a daily occurrence. We cannot remove all danger but we can reduce our risks and build strategies to ensure we are ready to sign off at the end of the shift and head home. Make sure you read this book and grasp the de-escalation tips and safety strategies it offers, and thereby ensure that you live to fight another day."
Bob Fellows (BSc) FCPara, Senior Paramedic Tutor, London Ambulance Service, UK

    About the author

Iain Bourne is a trainer and consultant, and is Director of IMPACT Training and Consultation Ltd: http://www.dangerousbehaviour.com/. His training courses are suitable for practitioners from across the helping professions, and as such this book will find a broad readership, e.g. social workers, nurses, CPNs, psychiatrists, youth workers.
