    The webinar will be about Moral Injury: What it is and why it matters in a pandemic. It will outline the topic, and also give us a chance to think about ways in which we might tackle moral injury by recognising what is difficult about this particular pandemic. 


    ABOUT DR. ESTHER MURRAY

    Dr Esther Murray is a Chartered and Registered Health Psychologist with an interest in social inequalities in health, wellbeing in medical students and doctors, and doctor patient communication. Her research is in the area of moral injury in healthcare professionals and allied healthcare professionals. She works alongside different groups of healthcare professionals, including medical students, to develop short interventions to improve psychological wellbeing.  


    She has delivered workshops on this topic at various hospitals and Colleges in the UK.  She has been a health psychologist for 12 years, initially working in cardiac care both in service improvement and psychological interventions for patients, later going on to a career in academia.  


    Her early research was in chronic pain and its effect on doctor-patient communication and she has a background in psychological intervention in cardiac care and training NHS staff in communication skills.  She ran an MSc in Health Psychology for a number of years and now teaches Health Psychology to MBBS students at Barts and she is course leader for the iBSc in Medical Education.

    ABOUT THE PRESENTER

    Dhushy Surendra Kumar is a Consultant in Critical Care, Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine and Anaesthesia at University Hospital Coventry. 

    He is the Chair of the Joint Royal Colleges Ambulance Liaison Committee (JRCALC). As an Honorary Associate Clinical Professor at Warwick University he led the creation of the Critical Care Paramedic Programme and is the course director of the Coventry Adult Transfer course at UHCW. Dhushy is also the Director of Clinical Audit for TARN and has previously been the clinical lead for the pre-hospital dataset. 

    His involvement in trauma outside the hospital setting incorporates work on air ambulances (as air crew and previously as medical director), road ambulances (as a responder, medical adviser and medical major incident adviser) and within motorsport. In the UK he was Chief Medical Officer at Rockingham Motor Speedway from 2007-2012 and has worked as a doctor at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone since 1994. He was the Chief Medical Officer for the British round of the Formula E Championship. Dhushy’s motorsport involvement internationally led to him commissioning the medical services and medical centre for the inaugural Formula One Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
