The webinar will explore aspects of this process with a small group of newly-published writers who will share their experiences.

    My name is Mike Davis and I am a freelance consultant in continuing medical education based in Blackpool but working throughout the UK and Europe. I have been engaged in this work for over 20 years and work mainly through medical education charities, Royal Colleges and European-wide networks. Prior to this, I was an English teacher in comprehensive schools and then a researcher and lecturer in universities. I am currently an honorary senior lecturer in medical education at Keele University.

    ABOUT PROF. GUY RUTTY

    I am a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and have a Medical Doctorate.  I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists and hold the Royal College of Pathologists Diploma in Forensic Pathology.  I am a Founding Fellow of the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences. I am a Founding Fellow of the Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians and have held (2015-2016) the David Jenkins Chair of the Faculty.  I hold the Foundation Chair in Forensic Pathology at the University of Leicester where I am Chief Forensic Pathologist to the East Midlands Forensic Pathology Unit.  I am an Honorary Consultant in Histopathology to the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and I am a Home Office Registered Forensic Pathologist, having been placed on the Home Office Accredited Register in 1996.  I was awarded the Chao Tzee Cheng Visiting Professorship of the National University of Singapore in 2015. I am the Responsible Officer to the Home Office Pathology Delivery Board and the Department of Justice, Northern Ireland.

    ABOUT DR. ESTHER MURRAY

    Dr Esther Murray is a Chartered and Registered Health Psychologist with an interest in social inequalities in health, wellbeing in medical students and doctors, and doctor patient communication. Her research is in the area of moral injury in healthcare professionals and allied healthcare professionals. She works alongside different groups of healthcare professionals, including medical students, to develop short interventions to improve psychological wellbeing.  


    She has delivered workshops on this topic at various hospitals and Colleges in the UK.  She has been a health psychologist for 12 years, initially working in cardiac care both in service improvement and psychological interventions for patients, later going on to a career in academia.  


    Her early research was in chronic pain and its effect on doctor-patient communication and she has a background in psychological intervention in cardiac care and training NHS staff in communication skills.  She ran an MSc in Health Psychology for a number of years and now teaches Health Psychology to MBBS students at Barts and she is course leader for the iBSc in Medical Education.
