#stemlynsWILD will bring together experts in resuscitation to learn in a unique setting that will challenge and recharge your clinical and emotional batteries.

The Programme
The programme will be two days which you might undertake in any order. You will be put into groups of up to nine and experience both days together. You can ask us to keep you with colleagues and we will do our best to accommodate.
Adventure Day
Walking an outdoors route, undertaking adventurous activities and clinical simulations. You will be guided on the route, we will provide all the technical & clinical equipment you need - all you need to bring is an open learning mindset. You can expect to work in water and at height, and will be supervised by qualified instructors when doing so.
The main site
Outside of the formal programme, there will be a relaxed atmosphere to connect with yourself and other participants. The site will be tented with various tipis, air shelters as well as tents & campers. A building with toilets, showers and a bar is also available.
In-camp day
This is a St Emlyn's speciality - leaning into all four pillars : evidence based medicine, clinical excellence, personal development and the philosophical overview of emergency care with luminaries in their fields. Talks, workshops, fireside chats and other modalities will keep your interest and engagement sky high.

Dr Natalie May
Dr. Natalie May trained in Emergency Medicine and Paediatric EM in the UK before moving to Sydney where she now works half time as a Specialist in Prehospital and Retrieval Medicine with Sydney HEMS, quarter time in Emergency Medicine at St George Hospital in South East Sydney and occasionally in the Trauma service at Royal North Shore Hospital. She is a medical education enthusiast and has been an editor and contributor to the St Emlyn's blog and podcast since 2012. She is proud to be part of the faculty of Resuscitology, a multidisciplinary course for keen resuscitationists.
She loves running, tea and karaoke; she lives with her husband and son near one of Sydney’s beautiful beaches.

Phil Keating
Offshore medic, commercial diver, rescue expert, ATACC faculty.
Phil is an offshore medic and commercial diver medic. He is part of the ATACC faculty, College of Remote and Offshore Medicine faculty, and is a PHTLS/TECC, prolonged field care, advanced rope rescue Instructor. With an interest in remote and austere medicine, He has operated and taught everywhere from Antarctica to Afghanistan.
Dr. Iain Beardsell
Consultant in Emergency Medicine. HEMS doctor with HIOWAA Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
Iain qualified in 1998 from University of Birmingham Medical School and over the past 25 years has trained in and practised medicine in major teaching hospitals both in the UK and overseas. He has been a consultant at University Hospital Southampton for the past twelve years, including a three year term as the unit’s Clinical Director. UHS is the main Major Trauma Centre for the South Coast region of England as well as the eighth largest hospital in the UK. An acclaimed speaker, Iain has spoken at international conferences in Australia, USA, Ireland, Austria and Germany as well as across the UK. He has a passion for medical school education and is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Southampton and the founder of the St Emlyn’s Medical School

Dr Vytautas Aukstakalnis
Emergency Physician (Lithuania)
Vytautas is an emergency medicine physician in the Hospital of Lithuanian university of health sciences. He is one of the first 5 emergency medicine physicians in Lithuania, founding the specialty there in 2013. He recently completed his PhD in trauma team technical and non-technical skills improvement (the first EM PhD in the country). He was previously an emergency medicine residency coordinator at the Lithuanian university of health sciences and developer of the emergency telemedicine project in Lithuania. He is the principal author of the first Lithuanian textbook of emergency.
Toby Rowland
Toby is a senior leader, board member and chief executive with over 28 years’ experience in the Defence Medical Services. With core skills grounded in operational delivery, planning and training, his most recent appointments have included Chief Executive for Deployed Hospital Care, Head of the Defence Medical Academy and, a secondment to the National team of NHS Health Education England.
Dr Eimhear Quinn
Consultant in Emergency Medicine and HEMS Doctor
Eimhear is an Emergency Department Consultant at Salford Royal Hospital and flies with the Northwest Air Ambulance. She has extensive experience in major trauma as a trauma team leader in Salford, and has worked across several UK air ambulance services.

Dan Horner
Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care
Dan Horner is an editorial board member on the St Emlyns blog and podcast. He is a consultant in emergency medicine/intensive care at a major trauma and neurosciences centre in the North West of England and outgoing Professor of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine. He has research interests in the prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolic disease, coagulopathy and early sepsis management in the critically ill. He is a topic expert for several NICE guidelines and accompanying quality standards. Dan is medical director for the TEAM course at Salford and has given national talks on airway management in the critically ill patient. He occasionally blogs (stemlynsblog.org) and infrequently tweets (@exRCEMProf).
Dr Oli Harrison
Consultant in Anaesthetics and Senior HEMS doctor
Oli is an Anaesthetic Consultant at Salford Royal Hospital and flies with the Northwest Air Ambulance. His training has taken him to Australia and across the UK. He has extensive expertise in the management of critical illness and injury in the prehospital environment and will be bringing these and other skills to #stemlynsWILD.
Dr Halden Hutchinson-Bazely
Intensive Care Medicine & PHEM Doctor
Halden is a senior registrar in Intensive Care Medicine, and a PHEM doctor working for both HEMS and BASICS organisations. He has worked in 4 of the UKs MTCs (and counting!) and has experience delivering critical care in a wide variety of hospital and pre hospital settings. With several years of military experience, and many adventurous hobbies, he is well suited to the WILD aspects of the conference. He is very active in medical education, in particular trauma simulation, as one of the medical directors for the ATACC course.
Ashley Liebig
Division Chief for Clinical Performance and Education for Travis County
Ashley Voss‐Liebig RN, BSN, CCRN, NREMT, CCISM Ashley is a US Army Veteran, former flight nurse/ rescue specialist and current Division Chief for Clinical Performance and Education for Travis County overseeing clinical education and training for 400+ providers. Ashley rotates weekends in hospital between the ICU and Sexual Assault/Child Protection team.
Ashley’s passions include, communication, human performance, critical care and teaching. Ashley delivers lectures around the globe, is a frequent podcast guest and is a contributing author for the St. Emlyn’s Blog and Podcast.
She lives in Central Texas on a modest farm with her beautiful daughter, giant Great Dane and bee colonies.
Dr Rich Carden
Emergency Medicine trainee and resuscitation researcher.
Rich is an EM and ICM trainee based in London. He has recently completed his PhD in Trauma Sciences focusing on cardiovascular dysfunction in the critically injured. He is currently an Emergency Preservation and Resuscitation fellow with the Institute of Pre-Hospital Care.
Anisa Jafar
NIHR ACL and ST6 in Emergency Medicine
Anisa qualified from the University of Manchester in 2008, combining her medical degree with European Studies and the French language. She completed her Foundation years in North East Thames, then completed her DTM+H at LSTM followed by a period working in a rural South African hospital. She has been juggling global health interests, an emergency medicine career and a young family via split academic and clinical training. Her PhD at the Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute focussed on emergency medical team (EMT) documentation following disaster response and led to further work with the UK EMT and WHO. She has since led the development of the Global Emergency Care Collaborative (GECCo) and continues to explore the role of global health engagement in EM practice via her research.

Mr Mike Hughes
Consultant Orthopaedic & Major Trauma Surgeon, North West Prehospital Critical Care Charity BASICS & North West Ambulance Service MERIT Doctor, Medical Director Cheshire Search & Rescue Team.
Mike qualified in 2010 from Liverpool and is a consultant surgeon in Liverpool specialising in upper limb orthopaedics, general and major trauma surgery, predominantly at Aintree MTC where he is also a Trauma Team Leader.
Outside his day job Mike works pre-hospital with NWPCCC, and is a member of the North West Ambulance MERIT team.
Mike is a long term member of Cheshire SAR team, and is the team’s Medical Director, as well as occasionally examining for Mountain Rescue. Mike is a Fellow of the Institute of Search & Technical Rescue.
Mike lives in mid-Cheshire with his Wife and 3 young kids, he is a keen climber, amateur farmer and committed petrolhead, and the proud holder of a class 1 HGV licence! Mike can usually be found elbow-deep in anything mechanical, from superbikes to lorries and everything in between!
Dr Stevan Bruijns
Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Global Health expert
Stevan Bruijns is dual registered as an emergency physician in South Africa and the United Kingdom. He is editor in Chief of the African Journal of Emergency Medicine is an honorary Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Cape Town. Stevan also works for the CQC as a UEC specialty advisor and inspector, and for NHSE Southwest as clinical advisor for the national UEC data bundle implementation. He has worked extensively in both resource-rich and resource-poor settings throughout a 23 year career. Stevan’s interests include system and quality improvement, as well as strong views on equality, diversity and research access in low-resourced settings. Stevan is married with two children who enjoy camping and train rides. They have one kitten and two very naughty chickens that like to raid the vegetable patch.
THE EVENT
"Reconnect with yourself, your role and your family at St Emlyn’s WILD. A two day learning experience in the heart of the English Lake District with one days fully outdoors and a second day in a massive tipi learning space. Families are encourage to stay alongside the event - you can camp on site for free or find your own accommodation nearby. The outdoors day will include hill walking and other adventurous activity (including abseiling and being in water). Bring an open heart and be ready to recharge."

There is only one ticket price for the two days and there will be no discounts available.
FAQS
Participants will gather in the evening of 9 Jun, though there is no scheduled activity that evening. Participants will be encouraged to come with families and camp at the site. On site facilities will be the toilets and showers at the sports club. Additional toilets will also be provided. Camping will be free, if participants chose to avail themselves of local hotels or other accommodation options they will bear the cost themselves.
The adventure day is up to 10km walk in hills, but not mountain summits. We have partnered with Challenge the Wild who are bringing all the technical equipment & qualified instructors to support you.
You will need to equip yourself for a hill walk in The English Lakes in summer (so anything but snow is probable): hill walking shoes/boots, waterproof and warm clothing in a rucksack as well as snacks and water to keep hydrated (it may be hot). On the adventure day you will be almost fully outdoors for nine hours. Any safety or technical equipment will be provided.
A guide will be provided to support your journey between the adventure and simulation elements.
We will support everyone complete all the elements as much as possible and support you if you cannot complete everything.
It is free to join us at the main site to camp, and it is for your families as well. There is a sports hall with toilets, shower & bar. There will be additional temporary facilities as well the main tipi.
If you do not wish to camp, you can stay anywhere you prefer - the main site and start/ finish of each day is at the address shown - right on the edge of Coniston village.
If you wish to stay the night of 11 Jun 23, just let us know when we contact you after you have bought your ticket.
The site will be open from 1200 and registration from 1800 on 9 Jun 23. The event is set to be complete by 1800 11 Jun 23. There will be very little time that is not occupied by the event or the social activities.
You can, but do not need to. We can group you as much or as little as you like - get in touch after you purchase your ticket(s).
Not at all, the learning focus is human factors. We will build the teams to go around the event as evenly as possible.

Any refund request until the 27th of April will be refunded in full.
For any refund request after the 27th of April until the 26th of May, 50% of the ticket will be refunded.
After the 26th of May there will be no refunds available.
